A special session will also be offered to young poets, writers and aspiring journalists in three genres-separately as 'Emerging Voices Series'- in addition to the ones noted below;'

Workshops are for beginners and intermediate participants, school or university workshops and business writing or journalism workshops.

EMERGING VOICES SERIES

Journey of the Pen

Come and enjoy a rare opportunity to embark on a journey of discovery into the world of creative English writing. "The Journey of the Pen" workshop is offered by Nimah Ismail Nawwab, internationally acclaimed writer, essayist, editor, poet, poetry judge, author of the best-selling volume of poetry "The Unfurling," and numerous articles translated from English into various languages.

Join a group of emerging writers who will cover a wide range skills such as conducting interviews, research, writing, critiquing skills and reading material designed to suit individual skills based on your own work.

You will also delve into the work of renowned published writers, and be given writing exercises over a period of two consecutive days to enhance your appreciation of various writing styles and composition.

Ages: 11-19

Requirements

  1. Send in by May 8th two samples of writings fiction or non fiction- kindly copy and paste your work sample into your response email.
    Note :Samples not to exceed 500 words with a title, embedded in the text of a response email - to avoid viruses

  2. A 150 bio on your interests, hobbies, your preferred genre of writing and favorite authors.

Young Journalists

Join in a rare opportunity to enter the exciting sphere of journalistic English writing. "The Journalists Workshop" is offered by Nimah Ismail Nawwab, internationally acclaimed writer, essayist, editor, poet, poetry judge, and author of the best-selling volume of poetry "The Unfurling," and numerous articles published in various print and online publications.

Join a group of like-minded emerging journalists and would be journalists as we cover a wide range of skills ranging from conducting interviews, research, critiquing skills and reading material designed to suit individual capabilities based on your own work.

You will also study the work of renowned journalists, and be given writing exercises of various genres over a period of two consecutive days to enhance your appreciation of various writing styles and journalistic styles.

Ages 11- 19

Requirements - submit by May 8

  1. Send in by May 6th two samples of writings and a reference to favorite journalists. Samples not to exceed 500 words each with a title, sample to be sent embedded in the text of a response email - to avoid viruses

  2. A 150 bio on your interests, hobbies and favorite magazines and your preferred magazines and a reference to favorite journalists.

Young Poets Session

Meet with other young poets, critique each other's work, listen and enjoy a special poetry performance with music.

A video segment will be offered for further appreciation in addition to an interactive session on performance poetry.

Requirements:
A manuscript with 3-4 poems and a short 150-word bio on you and your interests. Required for submission and acceptance to the workshop by May 5.

Open to: Mixed gender, multinational group

Dates: to be confirmed as May 14th or 24th

Duration: 2 1/2 -hour sessions in sequence - inclusive of a of a half hour break with juices and a light meal

*Note: please advise of any food allergies

Language: English Type of session: Discussion, reading, performance and analysis

Time: 5:00- 7:30.

Ages: 11 -19

Level: Beginner and intermediate

'Feminine Voices Across Time and Space' 

An exciting venture into the work of international women poets covering a wide range of themes on female activism in poetry.

The workshop 'Feminine Voices Across Time and Space' is offered by internationally acclaimed poet, poetry judge and author of the best-selling volume of poetry 'The Unfurling', Nimah Ismail Nawwab.

Participants will enjoy and appreciate a variety of verse that crosses the boundaries of time and space. Issues span childhood, marriage, divorce, politics, relationships, social challenges and individuality.

Relevant Details
Participation: Group of 6-12 -- to allow for individual attention.
Duration: a one-time three hour session

Other dates/options: One weekend session will be provided at a future date for those interested. Feel free to send in inquiry for weekend session if interested.

Come and enjoy a rare opportunity to embark on a journey of discovery into the world of English poetry. "The Poetic Journey" workshop is offered by Nimah Nawwab, internationally acclaimed poet, poetry judge, and author of the best-selling volume of poetry "The Unfurling."

Join a group of poets who will cover a wide range of poetic skills ranging from critiquing poems and reading material designed to suit individual skills based on your own work. You will also delve into the verse of international poets, be exposed to performance poetry and will have the opportunity to enhance your poetry appreciation and composition.

Special needs such as publication advice and literary resources will be available on request.

The workshop will be held in a serene atmosphere and participants will enjoy being surrounded by poetry resources.

Requirements:

  • Manuscripts of 4-6 poems are required for submission and acceptance to the workshop, in addition to a 250-word bio of each participant detailing their general interests.
  • Manuscripts must be embedded in the text of the email - not sent as attachments.
  • Participation: Group of 6-10 maximum -- to allow for individual attention.
  • Duration: 2 and a half hour sessions in sequence over a period of three days
  • Evening sessions. to accommodate employees.
  • Morning sessions can be arranged based on interest.
  • Open to: Mixed gender, multinational group
  • Ages: 18 and up
  • Level: Beginner and intermediate
